On Tuesday, June 29th, fourteen volunteers attended the first LCA Shoreline Ambassador meeting at the Boyne City library.

The purpose of the get together was to explore the benefits of having LCA representatives spread around the lake acting as a conduit between the LCA leadership and people that live on the lake or just use it for recreational purposes.

The volunteers are enthusiastic about how they can help LCA become a more effective organization. They discussed plans to encourage neighbors to join the association and to publicize LCA activities.

One of the more important functions of these Ambassadors will be to provide the LCA board members with input from folks around the lake so the organization can understand the issues, ideas and concerns of Lake Charlevoix residents and of all who use it recreationally. At the heart of the plan is having up to 20 volunteer LCA representatives covering designated waterfront areas around the lake. Depending on items such as lakefront population, and township boundary lines, each of the sections will be from 3 to 4 miles long.

We visualize, among other things, these Ambassadors providing LCA leadership with information gathered in the field on an as needed basis, attending township meetings as appropriate and meeting as a group with the LCA leadership perhaps twice a year.
